Dominique Cleary Tuohy (Clonlea Yoga Studio)

I discovered yoga more than ten years ago when I skipped the gym and joined a friend for a yoga class instead. It was a strong physical session but I felt refreshed, energised and relaxed after it. I enjoyed the teacher's mindful approach to health and well-being. I returned. Over time my curiosity deepened.

I certified as a Vinyasa Flow yoga teacher in 2013, under the guidance of David Curtis. I have started to explore Shandor Remete's Shadow Yoga preludes or sequences in my own home practice. Some basic aspects of it find their way into my teaching.

I give stimulating, balanced and safe classes in a supportive environment. I encourage everyone to explore their own limitations and to work with them. I break down all asanas or postures into accessible steps. I focus on alignment, breathing and inner awareness. I believe that yoga reveals itself through regular practice and self-observation. Clarity allows for personal insight and change becomes possible.
My professional background was in law and I have worked in conflict resolution at home and abroad. I have facilitated creative writing and yoga classes in RADE, a project focused on the recovery of addicts through art, drama and education. I live in Blackrock with my family and when I'm not in their company, I write.
